Save As You Throw is the Flex by WZ Program in Greenbelt
The City of Greenbelt is partnering with Flex by WZ, a WasteZero program, to introduce a smarter way to manage household waste and recycling. Here in Greenbelt, we call it Save As You Throw, a modern approach to waste management that’s successfully used in cities nationally, including all of Minnesota, half of Massachusetts and New England — and around the world, including Zurich, Switzerland.
Imagine it like your other utilities. You wouldn’t pay your neighbors water bill, or their electric or heating bill—now you do NOT have to pay their trash bill either. You save money and you contribute to a greener, healthier planet.
Greenbelt Save As You Throw by Flex by WZ is simple: you only pay for the general rubbish you throw away. Recycling is collected in specific, prepaid bags that make the process easy and efficient, and then you put it out the way you normally do for trash removal. The less waste you produce, the more you save on disposal fees.
Sorting waste isn’t just clean — it’s circular. Recycling saves energy, compostingcuts emissions, and every sorted bin keeps the planet a little lighter. How it helps:
